Receiver appointed over Woodstock funeral home

On January 16, 2026, MNP Ltd. was appointed as receiver and manager, without security, over all of the assets, undertakings, and properties of Brock & Visser Funeral Home Burial & Cremation Services Ltd., after conditions set out in an earlier court order were not satisfied. The receiver took possession of the company’s real and personal property on the same day, following the filing of an appointment certificate by Roynat Inc., the secured lender that brought the application.
Brock & Visser Funeral Home Burial & Cremation Services Ltd. is an Ontario corporation operating a funeral services business from owned real property located at 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock, Ontario. The receivership assets include the real property, inventory, accounts receivable, equipment, and rolling stock. The company’s principal line of business is funeral services, carried on exclusively from the Woodstock location.
The receivership arises from defaults under secured financing advanced by Roynat. As of the receivership date, Roynat reported secured indebtedness of approximately $3.9 million. The Canada Revenue Agency claims to be owed approximately $300,000, while the receiver has identified unsecured claims totaling approximately $775,000, including claims by former principals and trade creditors, bringing total estimated creditor claims to approximately $5.01 million.
Under its stated plan of action, the receiver will continue operating the funeral home business pursuant to an operating agreement with the director’s licensed funeral director, while collecting receivables and marketing the assets for sale as a going concern in accordance with a court approved sale process.
MNP Ltd. acts as receiver and manager. Roynat is represented by Harrison Pensa LLP.
