Starke Dominion

Starke Dominion, a Calgary, Alberta-based real estate company, was placed in receivership on January 26 on application by Paragon Capital Corporation, owed approximately $25.5MM. The company's sole asset is the land and commercial building located at 906-12th Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta, known as Dominion Place. In June 2017, Paragon demanded repayment when the company failed to comply with certain financial covenants set out in their loan agreements, including reporting to Paragon with respect to tenants vacating the land and encumbrances registered against title to the property. The company is unable to pay its expenses as they become due to maintain and operate Dominion Place. Alvarez & Marsal was appointed receiver. Carscallen is counsel to the applicant.
