PLANTA’s Toronto restaurant operators placed into receivership

Fuller Landau appointed over CHG and Planta Queen, while requested relief against related guarantors was adjourned

CHG Canadian Holdings Inc. and Planta Queen Inc., the Canadian entities tied to PLANTA’s Toronto restaurant operations, were placed in receivership on May 19, 2026, on application by RBC, owed nearly $1 million. The Court adjourned RBC’s request to extend the receivership to Temperenceco Inc. (which appears to be connected to Chase Restaurant and Bar, also located in Toronto), 2 Temperenceco Inc., Thunder Alley Group LP 1 and Thunder Alley Group Inc. until May 27.

CHG and Planta Queen were part of a broader Canadian group of related entities which operated high-end restaurants in Toronto, including the PLANTA Yorkville and Queen West locations.

RBC provided demand loan facilities to CHG and Planta Queen in 2020 and 2021, which the other proposed debtor entities guaranteed.

On June 10, 2025, RBC issued non-tolerance and non-waiver letters after a review identified reporting covenant defaults, including failures to provide FYE 2024 financial statements, forecasted balance sheet information and CRA materials relating to payroll source deductions and HST. Demand letters followed on November 7, 2025, with RBC demanding repayment of $945,579.99. After payment was not made, RBC sought the appointment of a receiver.

Fuller Landau is the receiver. Counsel is Aird & Berlis for RBC.
