Oxford Golf and Country Club

Oxford Golf and Country Club, owner and operator of the Craigowan Golf Club, a semi-private golf club located near Woodstock, Ontario, was placed in liquidation on February 20. In 2016, the corporation faced financial difficulties. Subsequently, in March 2017, it sold substantially all of its assets to Cardinal Golf Group (Craigowan), including the land on which the golf club was situated. Following the sale of the business and property, the corporation ceased carrying on any active business; however, a surplus of funds remained following payment to known creditors. Subject to the corporation's purchase agreement with Cardinal, then, it was determined that the corporation should be wound-up and the remaining proceeds from the sale paid out to its shareholders. BDO was appointed liquidator. Lerners is counsel to the corporation.
