Milligan Biofuels

Milligan Biofuels, a Foam Lake, Saskatchewan-based biodiesel processor, was placed in receivership on February 1 on application by ATB, owed approximately $490.1M. Originally formed by farmers with the assistance of Agriculture Canada and the University of Saskatchewan, the company had developed a "cold-crushing" system for biodiesel extraction from the oil of low-quality canola, but like others in the biofuel industry, has suffered from the drop in the price of oil. Hardie & Kelly was appointed receiver. Counsel is Robertson Stromberg for the applicant, MLT Aikins for the company and McDougall Gauley for the receiver.
